numbers

(sort of in honor of Ruby from Cold Mountain, which I really enjoyed)
Number One: Like Linnea says, computer access is hard to find at Covenant this summer, let alone the time.
Number Two: I have become enamored with electric guitar this summer. I have been listening to To Bring You My Love by PJ Harvey A LOT and bought the first two Patty Smith albums as well as Shake Your Money Maker by the Black Crows and have been enjoying them muchly. I have been borrowing stuff from Bill to listen to as well, like … I can’t remember there names right now. Led Zeppelin and the Stones, also have been running through my head more. I declared to my housemates at the beginning of the summer that I wanted a man who would woo me not with words, but with the electric guitar. They said they would get right on it. Granted, those who know me best know this is complete malarkey, since nothing but nothing movies me like words… even music.
Number Three: I have been spending many an evening up in the darkroom working on various projects I have come up with in my head. I want to get some sort of a portraiture portfolio together with the hope of some free lance work.
Number Four: Rod can finally pronounce my last name correctly. It was “lo-leek-o” for a long time. I pronounce it “lo-DEE-ko,” but was content when he started calling me “lo-DEEK-o.” Now he calls me Deek, which I am thinking of actually using, but spelling Deke. There is concern that this will just continue the lesbian rumors, but since you can’t be what you are not, than I have nothing to worry about… even when I shave my head.
Number Five: The best movies I have seen so far this summer are: True Romance, C.Q., One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, City of God, Cold Mountain, Red, and ones I can’t think of at the moment.
Number Six: The worst are (as in, my reaction to them, not whether they are cinematically great- which I do differentiate): The Good Girl, Talk to Her, 13 Conversations About One Thing, Beautiful Creatures, Troy, and ones I can’t think of at the moment.
Number Seven: I need to go home now.

Oh, come now, 13 Conversations wasn't that bad. Besides, Morris Yaegashi's older brother is in it, so you can't knock that.

You should see Spiderman 2. :) Oh yeah, I've been wanting to see City of God for some time now. I've heard its excellent (came out in Scotland early last fall).

Ryan- I was so hoping you would call me on one of these. Eb was very sure to point out Morris' brother. I was just short of enjoying it. It was so well acted and the inter conectedness of the different people was great, but over all I was frusterated with the time it took to say not that much at all. I had a similar reaction to Love, Actually.

Steele- Spidey 2 was *this* close to being on my favorites on the list. I should probably have put that one in instead of Cold Mountain.

Yes, The Good Girl deserves to be on everyone's worst movies list. "I'm Jennifer Aniston, and I'm whiney and I'm going to have sex with a fifteen-year-old now."

i can't sleep and i'm reading about movies i haven't seen. i'm going to go to bed now and dream up (literally) plot lines to each of these movies... i'll let you know what i come up with.

O. and thanks for talking tonight. it cleared my head about some stuff and i remembered that being pissed off has really worked out rather well for some people. like william wilberforce. or alanis moisette. or even nelson mandella. i'm going to be honest with our friend about how pissed off i can be with him.

i'll also let you know what i come up with on this front. g'night!
