Man Man
Manic, vaudevillian, clever, crazy, beautiful, amazing. I want to stalk them. War paint! I love war paint. Why don't more people wear war paint? War paint and Mohawks, they get my engine going. Vroom vroom. *falls over laughing at self*
Go listen to them here.

The Mountain Goats
I had Linnea on the phone with me for most of this show. I like this picture because he seems to be channeling Trent Reznor, which just adds a feeling of familiarity. At one point he told a story about how he wanted us to all sing together, but he understood how dumb singing folk music together is since he grew up in California where apparently one of the teachers at his school made them all sing "Michael Row Your Boat Ashore" a bizillian times. So he starts talking about how powerful it is when people sing John Lennon's Imagine together, it starts playing and he launches into No Children the chorus of which is:
which, I just don't have words for how amazing amazing amazing he was. I felt so filled up with joy after his set I could have floated home.
Day two, I took a whole roll of pictures. First, I was there. I took this picture from the Pitchfork site.

Some of my favorites:

I wish this was a picture of him with his finger UP his nose instead of just ON his nose, but whatever, it's cute.

The lady in the pigtails got to be up on stage taking pictures, I just thought she was really lucky and really beautiful.

It was very "Woodstock"-esque.

I had fun hopping up and down to Long Haired Child. He drank whisky all through his set and the guys swore he was on LSD... but I think it could have just been love.
And all the beautiful people who are not yet famous... and are my friends.

Ryan and Matt

Matt, Ryan and Jonathan.

I indulged.

My extremely cute and equally disgusting feet.

Angela... how beautiful is she? We stayed at her apartment in the Ukrainian Village. It was so good for me to be there with her. We spent the first part of Sunday on her roof, where this picture was taken, just talking about... well, things that are very us, and it was very very good.
Check out these and other pictures I took here.
