There is a week long conference here at Covenant this week for Rug makers. Some of you might remember the tables with signs saying "reserved for Rug Makers" distributed throughout Founders. Well, they are here now. They are making really intricate rugs. Some of them are really cheesy, some are really awesome. They are attempting to preserve the old art of hooking rugs by hand. They have all this felt like material everywhere and these canvases with patterns drawn on them to fill with colour, much like cross stitch. At first they were kind of annoying, but now I think it's rather cool. I was just outside Rod's office and these little old ladies were trying to figure out how to get to Mills the fastest and cut through Rivendell. How funny is that? Rivendell has been taken over by little old ladies, as has Blackwatch and all of Third. In the mean time, I am trying to get Mac/Rhymer lobby clean... this may take awhile.
Interestingly enough, Rivendell's commons is being used right now as a cloth dying station. There are all these interesting chemicals, neutral coloured fabric, tons of latex gloves, and die set up all over the sink, counter and table. At one point (and maybe still at this point) in my life I wanted to get a herd of sheep and use their wool to make cloth that I would dye with the colours I would make out of the flowers in my garden (out side my cottage where I would drink lots of tea). It's funny how the absurdities of life sometimes collide with reality and remind you of your fantasies when you least expect it.
My cold moved into my chest by Friday. I had been working till three in the morning the last couple of nights, and it just caught up with me. Most everyone else kept working till like five in the morning or so. Most of them got 80+ hours in. I know I got over 40, but not sure how over yet.
Our apartment is starting to look homey. We dressed it up a little bit and I finally put my clothes away. I need to go back to work now, but hopefully I will have a more insiteful blog later.
I am about to clean Catacombs bathrooms. If I die, I want you all to know that I was fighting the dirty grossiness (yes, grossiness) that lives in all bathrooms to the last.
In other news, our kitchen is pretty much clean and we are moved in. I made oatmeal for breakfast, with raisons. I made coffee. Linnea made tea. I am drinking Dr. Pepper. I am supposed to work 22 hours today. Good-bye.
I am working Hell Week here at Covenant. This is the week were we go through and clean the entire campus... which means the Carpet Team is cleaning every carpet on campus in one week... which means no sleep and long days.
Today I went through most of Founders with a "back pack vac" and sucked all the dust and stuff left in drawers and behind beds etc. It was wonderful to go into these now regimented and very dorm like rooms and smell the remaining essense of friends. Jose, Rachel and Becca, I was with you today.
Dear Blog,
I have thought of you many times during this last half of the semester. I know I have neglected you, but it was not because I don’t love you. In fact, do you see your new background? This should be taken as proof of my love for you. We are going to be spending lots of time together here soon, I promise.
Lovely much,
Natalie
